Our story

A small room for slow coffee and matcha.

Usucha started in 2022 as a weekend cart: two friends, one espresso machine, a bamboo whisk and a jar of maple cold foam. The line got long enough that we found a little room on Sunset with a skylight and a long oak bar.

Usucha is the Japanese word for thin matcha, the light, frothy kind you drink every day. It is how we like everything here: soft on top, with something strong underneath.
